The Yellow Wave

On 10th November 2007, a peaceful gathering organized by Bersih and endorsed by 66 NGOs and 5 political parties was successfully held at Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur to petitioning the Yang di Pertuan Agong for electoral reforms to ensure clean, free and fair election and to protest against the alleged corruption by the ruling party, Barisan Nasional ever since our independence day.

The delegation was led by Anwar Ibrahim and accompanied by Hadi Awang, Nasharudin Mat Isa, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Teresa Kok to hand the memorandum to the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s secretary. Thousands march in Kuala Lumpur wearing yellow T-shirt with slogan “Bersih”, but has been dispersed by the police. Teargas and water cannons were used by the police to disperse the peaceful protesters. According to Suaram, at least 28 persons were arrested during the rally.
